What is the difference between a high school diploma and a GED?
  • A high school diploma represents a commitment to completing an accredited school’s graduation requirements, demonstrating achievement in various subject areas and courses. It typically holds more value due to the level of rigor and dedication required to earn it.
  • A GED (General Educational Development) is a series of standardized tests in four major subject areas: Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. Each exam requires a fee, and you must pass all four to earn a GED. If you fail one of the exams, you will need to retake it and pay for each attempt until you achieve a passing score.
  • The primary difference between a GED and a high school diploma is that the GED primarily assesses your ability to memorize and recall information, while a high school diploma reflects a deeper understanding of what you have learned over a longer period.
