Shirin Ansari PH.D.

Founder and Headmaster

The headmaster of C4L Academy, Dr. Shirin Ansari, established C4L Academy in 2012 to provide an alternative educational path for K-12 students. Dr. Ansari’s passion for reaching students who struggle led to the addition of the C4L Academy Online High School program in 2015. Understanding that children who struggle to learn become adults who dislike or avoid learning, Dr. Ansari has assembled a team of education and curriculum experts to create a high school diploma program that is expressly suited to an adult learner’s needs and practically applicable to their lives.

Hamid Afyouni

Chief Financial Officer

Hamid Afyouni has served as the Chief Financial Officer of C4L Academy since its inception in 2015. In this role, he leads the organization’s financial strategy, overseeing all aspects of budgeting, accounting, and financial planning. Hamid plays a key role in ensuring the fiscal health and sustainability of the academy, supporting long-term growth and impact. He also collaborates closely with leadership to align financial decisions with the academy’s mission and goals.

Rami Muth M.A.

Chief Academic Officer

Rami Muth served as Superintendent of the Martinez Unified School District for 8 years until her retirement in June of 2016 closing a 40 year career in education. During her tenure, Rami developed and implemented a compelling vision of 21st century education that supported academic achievement for all students. As an innovative leader, Rami brought important resources to the district by forging strong, positive relationships with the immediate community as well as many outside agencies including the City of Martinez.

Judy Cunningham M.A.

Chairman of the Board

Judy Cunningham is a professional educator with a broad background in instructional practices, school design, and professional learning communities. A former school principal, she is currently President of Cunningham Education Consulting, working with superintendents, principals and site leadership teams to develop all elements of an effective learning community with students first. Judy has worked with teams from over 100 schools in nine California counties.

Bob Curley

Governing Board Member

Bob began teaching Middle School Math and Science in Irvine Unified School District in 1988 and moved into administration after ten years of teaching. Bob served as the Assistant Principal of SouthLake Middle School before becoming an Elementary Principal. Since then he spent almost twenty years as a Principal at Springbrook, Bonita Canyon, and Beacon Park. In 2022, Bob became the STEM Director for IUSD.

Destiney Julian

Director of Operations

Destiney brings a strong background in education and experience teaching in diverse environments to her role as Director of Operations at C4L Academy. With a proven track record in leadership, she is deeply passionate about helping others and fostering a positive, supportive learning environment. Destiney excels at building strong relationships across teams and with students, ensuring that everyone feels valued and supported. She leads initiatives aimed at optimizing C4L’s educational systems and student services, with a focus on enhancing retention, student success, and academic achievement. Destiney oversees the operations teams and collaborates closely with both the IT and curriculum teams to ensure seamless service delivery, always striving to create an efficient, student-centered experience.

Myka Mayo

Student Success Manager

Myka is known as the “face” of C4L Academy and serves as the main point-of-contact for both students and partner coordinators to ensure student success. With a strong focus on building positive, supportive relationships, she fosters an environment of trust and open communication, helping students feel empowered and motivated. Myka has 9 years of classroom experience, which has equipped her with valuable skills in assessing student needs and enhancing engagement. Her ability to connect with students on a personal level is key to her success in guiding them through their academic journeys.

Katarina YANG

Student Success Coordinator, Academic Mentor

Katarina serves as the Student Success Coordinator at C4L Academy, where she is dedicated to ensuring that every student has the resources and support they need to succeed. With a passion for helping students achieve their academic and personal goals, Katarina plays a key role in guiding students through their educational journey. They work closely with students to monitor progress, provide personalized support, and address any challenges that may arise. With a deep understanding of student needs and a commitment to fostering success, Katarina is an integral part of the C4L team.
